# AWS EC2 Free Tier: The Ultimate Guide to Instance Setup

`Note: If you want to create the EC2 instance make sure to select the region where you would like your instance to exit. This also depends on where your audience is, it would make sense if you create the instance in the same region as where the large audience is located.`

* Open the Amazon EC2 console at [https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/v2/home?region=us-east-1#Home](https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/v2/home?region=us-east-1#Home)[:](https://draft.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/8079178310424800652/7386764691964819308#)
    
* In the Launch instance box, choose Launch instance, and then choose Launch instance from the options.

* Enter your instance name under Name and Tags.

* The user will be prompted to select the OS under Application and OS Images (Amazon Machine Image).

* We will select Linux 20 for this demo.

* When selecting the Instance type, from the instance type list make sure to select the t2.micro instance which is free tier eligible.

**Note:** ***<mark>when selecting the hardware, the important part is to pay attention to the Free tier option to avoid getting charged.&nbsp;</mark>*** 

* Under the Key Pair tab, make sure to use the Key that was used to get setup.

* Keep default configuration settings.

* Review the summary and launch the instance.

* It should take a few minutes for instance to get ready.
